🎯 PROBLEM TO SOLVE
The Affordability Calculator upgrades the student financial planning process by allowing students to push and pull levers in their budgets, understanding what they could provide out of pocket for their education goals, and what financial aid can help cover.
👑 CONTEXT
Student debt is considered a crisis — students are looking for ways to determine how much they can afford to pay for college, what free money is out there, and what loans they’ll need to take out. Lantern’s Affordability Calculator allowed unsure students to increase their confidence in their financial readiness to take on the cost of a degree program.
• Directed design process through competitive research and student financing process research through moderated user interviews.
• Established vision and core UX for project, handing off execution to Lead Designer.
• Oversaw prototyping of full product for interface optimizations through user testing, prior to build.
• Increased the number of students moving forward in their education selection process (contacting schools) by 10.2%
