- EXTRAORDINARY SUPPER -
Hulu reached out to me and asked to make anything in my style for their ID project.
“Hulu” is Mandarin for gourd.
It had this great sort of symbolism of the holder of precious things, which is the holder of premium content. So, collecting valuable content and delivering it to valuable customers was the meaning of the company name Hulu and what it is doing.
I went through the process of thinking as follows while thinking of an art installation idea. that contained the concept of collecting various kinds of precious things and delivering them to people in need.
1. Rich and high-quality food is served on a luxurious plate covered with a cover and served to customers.
2. Good content can be compared to delicious food.
3. Various types of food (contents) are placed in various containers(dish, pot, bottle, vase and ...). - Not applied to design
4. Because the contents are digital things rather than a physical one, the container is designed with an electronic feel. So, there is a screen instead of food on the dish.
5. Accept the metaphor of UFO to give humors while selecting and collecting the contents.
6. Minimalistic and futuristic as possible, but more retro elements such as chipsets and wires can be introduced.
7. Maybe fork and knife forms of remote controller?
Plus, I love Brutalism!
As a result of combining these elements, I came to think of an art installation consisting of numerous dishes placed in the shape of a UFO table.
