Dickens’ 200th birth anniversary in 2013 caused a flurry of activity in the end of 2012, with many publishers bringing out their own celebratory editions of the author’s well-loved classics. Worth and Monti’s offering was a set of four cloth-bound books, meant for gifting purposes. I created four individual patterns for the books, with a central ellipse on the front containing the title and a correlating one on the back which houses an excerpt from the book; I chose a classic colour for each and then the cloth covers were screen printed with the pattern in a self colour. Gold or silver foiling and gilded tops were added to give them a luxe feel.
