Waste
At present-day throwing away food is something that has become normal and that many people turn a blind eye to. Many of us avoid food that has gone past the “best before date” and food that looks wonky without thinking about it.
About a third of fruit and veg is rejected before it reaches the supermarket shelf due to marketing standards. When food reaches the intended buyer, about 25% of edible fresh vegetables and salad are thrown away as food waste in the UK.
‘Waste’ aims to open the debate on the idea of food perfection and people’s relationship with food and to raise awareness of the issues surrounding this.
