Feltrinelli Books

Founded in Milan by Giangiacomo Feltrinelli near the end of 1954, Feltrinelli is an influential Italian publishing company. Vogliamo tutto and Non ora, non qui are their two books that have been redesigned in this limited edition.

Vogliamo tutto takes us to the working class struggle of the FIAT workers in the context of the Italian autonomous struggle of the years of lead (anni di piombo). The book cover illustrates a hand holding a toy gun in an effort to softer the weight of the theme of the book.

In Non ora, non qui, an old photograph of his mother evokes the childhood memories of the protagonist and author, Erri de Luca, in post-war Naples. On the cover of the book a woman is portrayed without fully revealing her face so that the readers can imagine their own.

As main characteristics, the books includes a fabric binding and show different colors on their front and back covers to convey a basic principle of literature: when you finish a book you will never be the same person as when you started it.

The premise when developing this limited edition of two books was clear: creating a simple yet eye-catching layout generated as a result of a serene exploration of color, composition and clarity.
