The Brief

We looked at the issues that lead to burnout in students at tertiary level. The driving factors such as education, work, fun, health and home all add to burnout amongst students. We used research and these leading factors to find solutions to combat burnout and create screen or print-based outcomes to do so. We have identified a specific target audience, Creative students, and came up with a design solution that best suits their needs.

Point of View Statement

Creative College/University Students need a way to reduce burnout from depleting creativity and to rather inspire creativity because the effects of burnout can cloud our inspiration and ideas, and leave us feeling creatively empty.

How Might We Question

How might we find a way to reduce burnout from depleting creativity because the effects of burnout can cloud our inspiration and ideas, and leave us feeling creatively empty?

Colour Palette

Corn #FFED50
This hue is a bold, commanding color. Because it is the color of the sun, bright yellow is commonly associated with warmth and energy. Other positive associations with the hue include happiness, hope and fun. In color psychology, yellow is thought to encourage optimism and be uplifting.

Shocking Pink Crayola #FF5CF2
This hue has a bright, bold appearance and is energizing and uplifting. It’s likely to be considered a fun and even provocative shade.
It communicates maturity and confidence. This will allow for the user to show confidence in their creative ability.

Sea Green Crayola #06FFCF
This hue communicates balance and harmony, a very important factor in design. This will allow for the user to sense balance and harmony when creating.
The Concept

Our final concept for Beating Burnout is to design a Creativity Campaign. We want to use social media, namely Instagram, as the campaign’s main platform. We will use this platform to share inspirational content to creative students and create a strong & creative visual identity for our campaign with a wordmark & colour palette.

The main aim of our concept/project is to show creative students that burnout must fuel their creative fire. Burnout must not stop their creativity, but rather take it by the reins and become a driving force, using burnout as a source of inspiration all on its own.

We want to take this concept and design posters for the campaign and a poster for a creative workshop that will form part of the campaign.

Instagram Page @Creativi.C

The Instagram page is the main platform for the campaign. It has been created to help creative students with creative burnout. We post about how to stay creative and cope with burnout as a creative. Our aim is to engage with students though inspirational content, such as videos and Q&A's with other creatives.

Creativity Workshop Poster

The idea of a creative workshop would be an event that’s hosted over a few days. Designers, artists and students will come together to both showcase their projects and artworks, as well as share creative thought processes and communication to other peers, and also act as a learning environment where lecturers and well-known individuals in the art and design space can come and host talks and share their experiences. A creative workshop needs to be a fun and enjoyable for everyone, and something that shouldn’t feel like a task, so having a lot of different things to do and choose from I feel is the best. As creative workshops are made to fulfill a purpose you do go there to learn new things and get better at something. There will be guest speakers, events and things to do where people can get involved and communicate together. Something like the Makers Lab & practical projects where we were able to use new machines and technology. It will be an event where you are put in a position that sparks creativity more than anything else.

Campaign Posters

The Posters aim to promote the CreativiC Campaign. The unique QR code appears on the posters for easy accessibility to the campaigns main page. The focus on three topics: Contagious Creativity, Creative Burnout & The Creativity Workshop.

Campaign QR code

We designed a QR code to make the campaign easily accessible. By simply scanning the QR code, the user will be directed to a menu to join the campaigns Instagram page and engage with its content.

Rationale

Our final concept, design & project for Beating Burnout is a Creativity Campaign. We want to use social media, namely Instagram, as the campaign’s main platform. We use this platform to share inspirational content to creative students, especially to those faced with creative burnout. Alongside the Campaign, we have designed three posters to promote the campaign. We aimed to create a strong & creative visual identity for our campaign with a wordmark & colour palette (with creative colour theory).

The main aim of this project is to show creative students that burnout must fuel their creative fire. Burnout must not stop their creativity, but rather take it by the reins and become a driving force, using burnout as a source of inspiration all on its own.

CreativiC is a Campaign for students who are struggling to find their creative fire due to burnout. It aims to bring back their motivation and confidence, as well as help them though their burnout by having productive workshops as well as videos for inspiration and Q & A with other creatives. It’s all about creating inspiration and inspiring creativity!
