The Wizard of Oz - Le Magicien d'Oz

What I love about theater shoots is the artistic freedom they bring.

When Frédéric Bélanger approached me to create the visual identity of Théâtre Advienne que Pourra's new Wizard of Oz show, he showed me lots of reference images of what he had in mind for his show and asked me if something resonated for me.

The idea of a circus is at the heart of his show and it was the idea that I immediately liked. I then suggested that we shoot the actors in the studio and then integrate them into a field where there would be a marquee and a yellow brick road. And since these are not things that are easy to find, I called on the wonderful services of Philippe Richelet to create them in 3D.

Add to that the magnificent costumes of Sarah Balleux and the extraordinary makeup of Jade Bruneau.

Ce que j’aime avec les shoots de théâtre, c’est la liberté artistique qu’ils apportent.

Quand Frédéric Bélanger m’a approché pour faire le visuel du nouveau spectacle du Magicien d’Oz du Théâtre Advienne que Pourra, il m’a montré plein d’images références de ce qu’il avait en tête pour son show et m’a demandé si quelque chose faisait écho pour moi.

L’idée d’un cirque est au cœur de son spectacle et c’est l’idée qui m’a tout de suite plu. Je lui ai alors proposé de shooter les comédiens en studio pour ensuite les intégrer dans un champ où il y aurait un chapiteau et une route de brique jaune. Et vu que ce n’est pas des choses qu’on trouve facilement, j’ai fait appel aux merveilleux services de Philippe Richelet pour les créer en 3D.
S’ajoute à ça les magnifiques costumes de Sarah Balleux et les extraordinaires maquillages de Jade Bruneau.
