Things die if you do not honor the reality of their nature; people are no exception. This series acts as a warning to those who indulge in earthly ideas and desires and the danger of trying to hide those transgressions from others and even the individuals themselves. The objects that make up the skulls reference symbolism found within art historical vanitas paintings and reveal the fatal flaw of the character within the book. What you want may not be exactly what you receive. It is the juxtaposition of appearance versus reality, and it takes a sharp eye and keen mind to discern the truth. Secrets always surface. Be wary of vanity; it can sabotage an otherwise fulfilling life.
