Varanus komodoensis skull illustration

The Komodo dragon (Varanus komodensis) is the largest squamous lizard alive, achieving an average length of 2.5 m. While their oral tissue hides them from plain sight, these carnivores possess large (2-2.5 cm) serrated teeth. They are native to Indonesia and are currently endangered.
