(WIP) Gamer — Type System

Videogames started with sports. Then, they grew to adventures in imaginary worlds. Later, in the outter space. We used to play them in arcades, or in consoles. We played several characters: warriors, plumbers, hedgehogs. In this period, pixels ruled the screens all over the world.
The coarse resolution of the screen dictated the overall graphics. They were different from game to game. From console to console. From brand to brand. Today, we use those imagery to bring back those times.
Typography was one of the many possible ways to feel it. I wanted the overall retro, pixel aesthetic, so I could get the inspiration to create new, and personal structures. That made me question if it was possible to parametrise these skeletons, and to generate variables? For example, proportions, and weight properties.
I wanted to generate a continous evolution, and relationship, between shapes. A certain amount of parameters to create a personalized instance. So, I tried to develop a Python-based application to render the letters. The variables were categorized as:

1. For the strucutres.

2. For the terminals.

3. For the Italics.

4. For the serifs.

5. For the contrast.

6. For the decoration.

7. For the light.

During this process, I got some problems with the white space. I am going to try to work with the side bearings. And I was drawing other scripts in pixel (such as greek, russian, and other languages). But I have some issues with the height/width relationships. I will work on this project, and will update as I will get more results.
