Guess Who?!?
Guess Who is a popular two-player board game in which "the goal is to guess the other player's person before they guess yours. Each player asks questions to learn more about the other player's person." As you learn about the other player's character, you fold down the tiles of eliminated characters who do not match the criteria of the question asked. I designed a unique board in which the characters are customizable. This allows for this game to be individualized to every group playing (i.e. family, friends, co-workers, etc.). For the purpose of this hackathon, the photos used were of Hackberry lab and teaching assistants.
To begin, I had to determine the size of the character photos, character tiles, and the game board. I then modeled the board in Inkscape to be laser cut onto plywood.
Once the board and the character tiles had been cut, I glued hand-cut picture frames onto each tile. This became the most time-consuming aspect of the project because, while straightforward, each step had to be repeated 20 times. Then each picture was glued onto a piece of cardstock to give it a stronger shape.
Next, I added hinges to the board. This step took far longer than I thought it would. I was only able to successfully add 5 hinges to the board during the allotted time. Because of the size of the screws and the location of the hinges, it was hard to get everything placed right and screwed in.
