This was an assignment in my graphic design class called Incident report. We were instructed to over a period of two days record an incident both in writing and found objects. My incident was that I was late for class and ran through the grass for a shortcut. I found that there was grass all over my shoes when I arrived to class late and breathless. The next step was to make it into a book.
There is two books because one includes the text. The other, bigger book, includes images of grass in different settings grayscale and bitmapped so the paper can give color to the images. They are intended to be displayed one on top of the other just like the image above.
When first brainstorming for this project I actually made some paper out of grass. I was inspired by the texture of handmade paper and decided to try to see if I could make paper out of grass. While I did not end up making the book out of this paper, I cut it down to make it a bookmark.

For the smaller book I focused on a meditation technique called grounding. I focused on this because it is a way for me to calm down when I am especially anxious, which I was when I realized I was late for class. Grounding focuses on the 5 senses in order to essentially distract and focus your mind. I took words from my incident and applied them to each 5 senses. This page being sense.
Each page is a zoomed in image of grass in different settings. There is no text at all in the book. It is a perfect bound book.
