Adobe MAX 2021 Keynote Demo
for new features in Illustrator

I recently had the privilege of demoing the latest features in Adobe Illustrator during the Adobe MAX first day keynote. It was an amazing experience and I loved the idea of trying to wrap several new features into the workflow of one lettering piece. The most exciting feature was the full update of 3D features with live changes and lighting effects, so cool and really lead the way this project developed.
I probably created this single project 500 times, it was definitely an exercise in developing something that could be recreated in 5-10 minutes but that was really fun looking.
The ability to create high resolution renders of 3D work is so incredible to see in action.
As this piece included a lot of the new features in the most recent update of Illustrator it was also used in app and online in tutorials to show the features in action. You can even dive deeper with some great tutorials here
The project started with several pieces including a sketch of the lettering, a graphic used to create a custom brush, and a few flower graphic sketches used to show the sketch to vector features.
This is the video excerpt from the keynote, you can also check out the full 1st day keynote with a slew of new features and app previews below. It was amazing to present with so many Adobe evangelists.
The set in Burbank we filmed the demos was really cool and can't thank all of the people enough who helped pull this off from the on set teams to the product groups I spent lots of late nights figuring out how everything could work smoothly live.
