MotoGP: Rumble Strip

Rumble Strip was a social media campaign for Dorna/MotoGP that highlighted the previous race meeting(s) of the week. I designed the logo of this strip (above) as well as illustrated 12 strips including a special Halloween cartoon of all the riders of the 2019 MotoGP race season.
Deadlines were fairly tight as the race was on Sundays, script came in overnight (from Spain) Monday morning and I would need to have sketches for approval by Monday night or Tuesday morning. Final publish-ready file to be emailed no later than Friday.
Challenges: Aside from meeting the tight deadlines, one of the bigger challenges of this campaign was to capture the likeness of the riders. With the social media reach of MotoGP at around 30 million, it was hard not to feel some pressure!

In general, I believe I did an excellent job in getting the likeness of the riders. However, with this image above, for some reason it kept looking like Nicky Hayden instead of Marc Marquez! Maybe Hayden's spirit was guiding my hand!
If time permits, I would add in more of the sponsor logos since ultimately, that's what really makes the bikes recognizable to the fans. Logos were either found online or created in Adobe Illustrator and applied to the drawings in Adobe Photoshop.
Special Halloween caricature illustration - this was fun yet challenging in terms of composition, concept, and likeness. The short process video below was done in Procreate - I colored and finished off the piece in Adobe Photoshop.
Partial process video of the MotoGP special Halloween illustration. Mainly drawn in Procreate on the iPad pro, touched up and colored in Adobe Photoshop.
End of the 2019 season (and Rumble Strip) recap can be found here.
