Group Assignment

Main Summary
For this project, we were placed into groups to create a game that uses the leap motion sensor with Unity. I was tasked with character creation, rigging, and animation.

Game Idea
The game is about being a retail working managing the store while preventing robberies from customers. Players would be scored in three different areas including customer service, tidiness, and security. Players would play minigames to fold clothes from messed up displays and help customers check out items, players could help boost customer satisfaction by grabbing store items and manually giving them to customers. Players could pickup or "slap" away customers who attempt to rob the store. However, kicking out innocent customers decreases the overall score, so players would have to be cautious.
Character Development

Character Design Mood Board
Since this is a quirky and silly game, the characters should look cute and squishy. By taking inspiration from games like Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout (Mediatonic, 2020) and Overcooked (Team17, 2016), it can be identified the types of colours and character shapes that makes a fun party game visually appealing.
Character base concept sketch
As a result, the base design for these customers look similar to monkeys. It gives out cheeky characteristics as these customers would mess up displays, consistently ask for assistance or steal from the store.

Designing different types of customers:
Adults
Casual working outfits
F - Business casual, Busy, tidy hair
M - Apron? Comfy clothes,
Elderlies
Comfy patterns clothes
F - grey hair bun, floral dress, wrinkles + happy
M - glasses, semi bald, plain polo shirt
Teenagers
Edgy/Pop clothes
F - pop core outfit, medium hair length (orange)
M - emo clothes, black hair (dark blue),  + tired

These various style types of customers were then created using Autodesk 3Ds Max and textured in Adobe Substance Painter.
Base models of characters
Textured 3D models of various customers
Characters were then Biped rigged and skinned in Autodesk 3DS Max to be animated.
