In redesigning Henry David Thoreau's Walden, I wanted to create a cover as bursting with life as every word on every page. Using floral illustrations and pseudo-watercolor, I produced a mirror-image design that adds a contemporary feel to the vintage novel. And because we were redesigning the book in its entirety, I had a chance to show the words off as well. I chose asymmetrical layout proportions to create an appropriate space for moving pull quotes from the text. The final product is one that I hope would do Henry proud. But I mean, my mom was pretty excited, so close enough.
