FAN ID as a security element was adopted for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. This tournament is considered as a World Cup rehearsal: the host country checks its readiness for the upcoming event.
Based on the closed design contest procedure, our team was selected as the executor for the development of FAN ID identification system which was subsequently touched by tens of thousands of people from all over the world.
The design system is based on a logo in the shape of a "wave" of fans, which is a symbol of the unity of all people at the stadium. Organizers of sports events often launch "waves" through the entire arena to involve people in the atmosphere of the event. The same symbol is the shape of a digital signal. i as an image of a fan; i as information data.
The key communication tasks of the project are to unite all fans as the atmosphere of unity at the sports celebration and to innovate the event's security system as a digital product.
The result is a flexible and agile style that can be used in various directions including generating a QR code as a digital key for each fan passport. The style has acquired specific digital attributes to implement the product's business tasks: scanning and verification. As a result, communication and function have become the main advantages of the entire style.
A sport event of such scale is characterized by brightness in every sense - from the flags of the championship participants to the emotions - therefore freshness and dynamics are the basis of style. The players' uniforms, the fans' attributes, the posters, and the patterns of the filled stadiums fit perfectly into the product design system.
