2021 Taipei Lantern Festival
This is a promotional video for 2021's Taipei Lantern Festival. The first part of the video is about the design process of the main lantern "NEW" as well as the Key Visual of the lantern festival. The second part is focus on the event itself, also showcasing the performance of NEW.
Wanhua, Taipei City's oldest district, is known for its historic temples, traditional markets, local street food and other features that attract tourists year on year. In 2021, the Taipei Lantern Festival will be held in Wanhua for the first time, enlivening this historic district with modern and innovative decorations. A 3D projection mapping show, daily stage shows along with international artists and cartoon characters will offer visitors a unique festival rich in both modern and traditional elements. A large parade will also showcase Taipei's cultural abundance.
Here is a rough storyboard drawn by Kai Cheng, the director. The shots are meant only for the first part of the video, since it is really hard to predict what shot you can get for the event, there was only a shot list for the second part of the video.
This moodboard is a reference for the color of the video. The whole pre-production of the project was done remotely.
