This is a collection of traditions, stories and fate which can come alive by you.

The collection was inspired by the breathtakingly beautiful ’kalotaszegi’ written embroidery. The motifs, used at this area were redesigned with stylization to decorate the clothes that way. The technique of the written embroidery is shown graphically, to emphasize the value of handicraft, which is the base of the Hungarian folk art.

Our heritage is in our hands, let it live!

By investigating the written embroidery, which was my inspiration source, a thought came into my mind. I aspired to design the patterns of the garments regarding the original motif assortment and the speciality of the written embroidery technique. Nowadays we can get everything ready to use, so we don’t think about how much work is to make one piece of product. This is exactly that I wanted to underline with my collection, so when we see an embroidered table cloth, know and understand the work, time, energy and love, that the creator put into it. Slow down for these objects, to be able to appreciate them properly. According these values I placed my soul and heart into these clothes. This is the contemporary mentality of the role of handicraft.

This film gets an insight into a general morning routine. It highlights how our and our ancestors’ everydays resemble and differ from each other. Nowadays a girl dresses up by herself in contrast of she used to be dressed in old times, she chooses by herself the garments that she considers beautiful and confortable, she prepares by herself and goes to work or create. As the poem shows, the differences are as good as the similarities. Development and focusing on the future is important, but to do these with honor is also absolutely important. To be able to preserve and forward our values and heritage to the next generation, to be able to translate the meaning of them with contemporary approach. I sincerely hope that, these thoughts will fill you up with happiness while you bear one of these garments decorated with modernized patterns from Kalotaszeg.
