This is a painting I did recently over the thought that the Planet Pluto should be used more symbolically. In this case I used Pluto to describe the feeling of missing your family, because the Solar System in a way is a family of planets and their moons.  Pluto for a stupid reason, in my opinion, is not considered to be a planet anymore.  You could also use Pluto to symbolize not being in family anymore and there are many more ways that you could use it as a symbol.

The Medium I used for this painting was acrylic paint.  For space I used black, metallic purple, and metallic blue.  Then I used a toothbrush to create the stars, by getting paint on the brush and flicking downwards.  For Pluto, I looked up what colors it was and then used pieces of a paper towel to create the surface of Pluto.
This is the image I referenced for Pluto -
