An examination of the subjectivity of time | 2012
This book addresses the relationship between the phenomenon of time and us humans. The main purpose of this book, besides showing theoretical and analytic contents, was to serve as a documentation for various experiments that we conducted throughout the semester. We refrained from using clocks and thus lived without time for one month, accelerated and decelerated one day each, auctioned our time and spent several hours in a physician’s waiting room and at the train station, waiting. In addition, we designed a packaging for time that materialized the subjectivity of time. All our insights and results of those experiments are summarized in this book.
Created during the summer semester 2012 at the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg–Schweinfurt under the supervision of Prof. Carl Frech.
This chapter is about the movement of time. In order to read the complete text, you have to move the folded parts that represent the time.
The Timelines show timestamps that we tagged during the experiment without clocks. The upper section contains our guessed time, the lower column shows the actual time when the timestamps were created. The red space is the derivation in our estimations.
Since the book is about time, we didn't use a common page count. Instead, we measured the average time needed to read the particular page and created a guiding system based on time.
