Capture Emotion
For this edition, we shifted the perspective from the singularity of the winner to the diversity of the participants and their interpretations, with emphasis on each of their specific sound and what it takes to develop a personal style as a young musician.
In classical music reviews, describing the musician’s interpretation style often implies using emotions to describe the particular quality of their sound. This vocabulary connecting emotion to sound unfolds in the representation of the insides of instruments as emotional geographies of sound. A personal sound / style is the result of intersection between the exploration of these landscapes and the technical rigor that leads to virtuosity (as illustrated by the physical boundaries of the instrument). This visual direction follows the notion that the musician actually transforms the instrument through their practice.
