Traditional Japanese Patterns
For the background of the box packaging I adapted traditional Japanese patterns to be more simiplified and versatile. I incorporated these to add an element of traditional Japan to the modern design of the boxes.

Typographic Exploration
I knew I wanted pronounced cartoonized type to stand out on the shelf so I also used this as an oppertunity to expore color palettes and overall graphic style for the packaging.
Graphic Style
I chose a simple, friendly, bold style for the typography and food imagery. I settled on the this style because it showed off the food well while maining a feeling of Japanese modern culture through the use of outlines and bold, colorful typography.
