Around the world a new wave of colonialism is taking place. Countries are being entered, the people suppressed, the resources (both natural and manmade) are being looted, along with any sense of identity, culture or uniqueness. Through the strategic use of symbol, this proposal presents a way to tackle this issue head on, with special interest paid to the unfolding situation in Greece and the rest of Europe. By minting untenable coins and notes, a break in the monetary cycle that drives this unforgiving invasion is created, thereby fostering a new-found sense of hope.
Along with the aspiration of unclouding this complex and often misunderstood issue, this proposal also aims to give a voice back to those of whom it has been taken; to the effected; the colonised; the others.
