Tutasoma - Solar Powered Light Companion

Tutasoma, also known as “we will learn” in Swahili is a collaborative project with Theunis Snyman, Elizabeth Eng and Jeremy Calhoun under mentor-ship with Keith Doyle. Our challenge is to design a useful product for Solio, a portable solar power company distributing aid for the development of farming communities in the Rift Valley.

The Tutasoma project is designed to increase the overall lifestyle of the Kenyan community with affordable, rugged and accessible LED lighting that recharges overnight and attaches repurposed plastic bottles for significant light diffusion, home beautification and sterilization of bacteria infested waters (using UV-C LEDs)
