ABOUT THE PROJECT

The book layout was created in typomania.school. The task was to create a layout for a book series by the website divisare.com.
divisare.com, is a web site about architecture. The model of Divisare was the bookcase, on whose shelves we have gathered and continued to collect hundreds and hundreds of publications by theme. Every Collection in this website tells a particular story and conveys a specific viewpoint from which to observe the last 20 years of contemporary architecture.

The topic and materials could have been any. I chose to make an overview of designers structured by parts of the world. The main value of this grouping, as I see it, is flipping through, contemplating and comparing the works of designers and architects so that the main, major part will be a gallery of pictures.
BOOK STRUCTURE

The book series is divided into 14 macro-regions. One book cannot contain more than one macro-region. However, the macro-region may not be limited to the 1st edition, and may also imply additional issues. At the beginning of the book is the first content: which countries are represented in this macro-region - content on top of the map. Next comes the content of a specific country - studios and designers from the selected country. Blocks highlighted with a larger size suggest a larger number of pages and projects. There are 2 formats for submitting material: the main one - the name of the designer/studio, a gallery of works and signatures and an extended overview of the project.
FONT

As Highlight Fonts was used APOC by Ilya Ruderman and Yury Ostromentsky (CSTM Fonts). Apoc is thin and sharp with aggressive serifs, almost as if they were cut by a knife. This font suggests elegance, dynamics and modernity. The alternative typeface of the letter “S” in titles helps to create irregular rhythm when you try to bring them to one diagonal.

Helvetica is used as a technical font. On the one hand, the simple and universal character of the font allows you to focus even more on the emotional expressiveness of Apoc. On the other hand, the practicality and functionality of Helvetica perfectly emphasizes the architectural theme, such as houses and apartments that are functional.
BOOK COVER

The cover of the book shows to potential readers the basic typography law on which this book has been based:
1. abstract composition of rectangles built on a grid - the same in every book and on every page.
2. the same font on the title on the book’s cover as inside.
3. countries from first schedule, with map, are duplicated on the book cover – the location is the same.
PRE-PRINTING
A preliminary print was made to evaluate the readability of the font (kegel, contrasts) and other aspects related to the implementation.
