우리는 희로애락(喜怒哀樂)의 4가지 감정과 함께 살아간다.
기쁨, 분노, 슬픔, 그리고 즐거움은 우리의 주변에 항상 산재하여 일상을 이루어간다.

우리는 노력의 성취, 관계의 확장,혹은 우연이 만들어낸 어떤 순간에서 기쁨을 느끼며, 반대의 상황에서 분노를 느낀다.
쌓아왔던 관계와의 이별에 슬픔을 느끼고, 관계를 가꾸는 과정에서 즐거움을 느낀다.
나는 이렇게 우리 주변에 산재해있는 여러 감정들을 바라보고, 하나의 모양으로 빚어내어 보여주고 싶다.
첫 번째 프로젝트의 주제는 '기쁨' 이다.
"밥 한번 먹자". 사람들이 기쁜 소식을 전할 때 자주 건네는 말이다.
식사 자리는 기쁜 일을 나누고, 함께 이야기하는 자리로 우리에게 익숙하다.
취업에 성공했을 때, 어떤 성과를 이루었을 때, 혹은 다른 기쁜 소식을 전할 때 우리는 소중한 사람들을 초대하여 식사를 하고, 이야기를 나눈다.
문화권을 막론하고 발달되어온 밥상머리 예절이나 테이블매너 등은 식사 자리가 대화의 장으로서 역할 해왔음의 증거일 것이다.
식사 자리는 기쁜 일을 나누고, 함께 이야기하는 자리로 우리에게 익숙하다.

나는 식사 자리에서 나누는 기쁜 대화를 더 자연스럽고 수월하게 해주는 테이블을 만들고 싶었고, 대화에 방향성을 부여하는 것을 그 방법으로 떠올렸다.

I want to look at the various emotions scattered around us, and make them into a shape to show.
The theme of the first project is 'Happiness'.
"Let's have a meal". It's a phrase people often say when sharing good news.

We are accustomed to the dining table as a place to share happy things and talk together.
When you succeed in finding a job, achieve something, or share other good news, we invite loved ones to eat and talk.
Table manners, which have been developed regardless of culture, are proof that the dining room has served as a place for conversation.
I wanted to make a table that makes happy conversations more natural and easier during meals.
And I thought making direction to the conversation as a way to do it.

'ARC' 는 이름 그대로 호 형태를 하고 있는 테이블이다.
이런 종류의 식사 자리에는 소식을 전하는 주체, 즉 '주인공' 이 있기 마련인데, 호 형태의 테이블 안쪽은 그 주인공의 자리이다.
그 날의 주인공은 테이블 안쪽에 앉아 청중들을 향해 연설하듯 대화를 건넬 수 있다.
그리고 바깥에 위치한 청중들은 주인공에게 시선을 모으며 건네는 얘기에 집중할 수 있을 것이다.
'ARC', as the name suggests, is an arc-shaped table.
In this type of meal, there is usually a 'host' who conveys the news. And inside the arc-shaped table
is the seat of the host.
The g of the day can sit inside the table and have a conversation as if speaking to the audience.
And the audience located outside will be able to focus their attention on the host and focus on what is being said.

테이블의 다리는 기쁜 소식을 전한다는 키워드에 맞춰 '개선문'을 모티브로 형태를 디자인했다.
다소 무거운 형태의 이 다리는 철판과 MDF를 절삭하고, 밴딩해서 만들어진다.
The legs of the table were designed with the motif of 'Triumphal arch' in line with the keyword of delivering good news.
This rather heavy type of legs are made by cutting and bending steel plate and MDF.

'ARC' 는 3인 용과 5인 용 두 가지 종류의 크기로 만들어진다.
The 'ARC' is made in two sizes: for 3 people and for 5 people.

이 프로젝트를 진행하는 지금은 2021년의 11월이다.
이제 곧 사랑하는 사람들과 삼삼오오 모여 즐거운 대화를 나누게 될 연말이 찾아온다.
