Back in the day they didn’t have flood control technology, so the only option was to build an ark.

Luckily for us technology has advanced, and we now have an entire range of flood control options. One of the most effective options is  flood water barriers manufactured by “Flood Control Asia”.

Flood Control Asia, is a Philippine based company that makes the highest quality, and most effective flood water barriers. Each barrier is constructed by German trained engineers, and specifically designed to meet the highest quality standards.

Our flood water barriers are made from strong and durable material and each unit is “hydro-statically” tested to withstand the strongest water pressure.

In fact, we are so confident of our products performance, we offer a 100% money back guarantee on each and every barrier.

I'm in love with my car
"I'm in love with my car," sang the legendary rock band Queen, and those simple lyrics perfectly described the relationship between Americans and their cars. This enduring love affair, which began with the Ford Model T, has weathered two world wars, the Great Depression, viral pandemics, ideological divides, and even the greenhouse effect.

The American car industry represents a large segment of the American economy and American cars are part of the national ethos. Thanks to advertising, cars are seen as a status symbol, and in some cases, they are even seen as representations of the American Dream.

Given the obvious importance of cars in American culture, the question must be asked... why? Why do Americans love their cars so much, and how did this happen?

The beginning:

It all began on September 28, 1908, when the first Model T Ford rolled off the production line in Highland Park, Michigan. This was an auspicious beginning for both the American car and the production process behind it. By inventing the 'Assembly Line,' Henry Ford not only revolutionized the car industry, but established the base upon which American manufacturing would grow and flourish for the next 100 plus years.

Not just a means of transportation:

"Everything in life is somewhere else, and you get there in a car."
- E.B. White

A car is a means of transportation, but if we look at the lessons of history, we can see how influential transport was in shaping the whole of American society.

Initially, travel was severely restricted, with the population relying on the horse and carriage. This was replaced by the railway train, which in turn was replaced by the automobile. Cars were quicker, more convenient, and more comfortable. They represented a new level of mobility. Traveling was made easy, and Americans could now venture further afield than ever before.

American travel also influenced numerous other industries. Highways and subways were built, internal infrastructure, increased exponentially, the advertising industry boomed, and the gargantuan petroleum industry exploded.

The travel industry and those affiliated with it grew rapidly, inexorably changing the American lifestyle. In fact, it can be easily argued that the motor car and the increased mobility it created, were instrumental in kick starting the American manufacturing process we see today.

The car industry is big business:

The American car industry has seen many ups and downs, but there's no denying its size and importance to the American economy. Right from the get-go, American expenditure on the motor car was astronomical. For example, at the beginning of the 20th Century, annual car sales in America jumped from 8,000 to more than 2 million in less than 15 years.

In the coming decades, car sales in America were to see additional exponential growth. For example, in 1965, 7,746,000 passenger cars were sold, and by 2019 this number had reached over 16 million annually.
The automotive sector is widely regarded as being the largest manufacturing industry in America. Car sales consistently make up a large percentage of American consumer expenditure and are considered a key economic indicator.

It's all about the image:
"The cars we drive say a lot about us."
- Alexandra Paul

So much of society is about how image and appearances matter, and we as individuals are defined, not by who we are, but by who we appear to be. Advertising has cleverly created a link between products and an image. Inanimate products can magically bestow an image upon the consumer, and this is particularly so in the case of cars.

The message here is that the car you drive both determines and reflects who you are as a person. But the wonders of the modern automobile don't stop there. The car you drive also reflects your wealth, emphasizes your social standing, and perhaps most importantly, tells other people what sort of person you are.

Looking good:

They say that clothes make the man, but in this case, it's more like appearance makes the car. Given that cars have this mystical gift of image creation, it hardly comes as a surprise that your typical car owner is particularly conscious of their car's appearance. This is clearly demonstrated by research that estimates, by 2027 the global sales of car care products are expected to reach 16.1 billion dollars.

The sales of car care products are determined by a number of factors, both mental and physical. For example, in San Diego California you have an affluent, image-conscious society with year-round sunshine. This means that residents are more likely to prioritize the appearance of their car. This can include anything from car washing to window tinting and car detailing, which utilizes special polishes and ceramic coating.

The automobile industry is huge and constantly evolving. But amidst this sea of change, one thing remains consistent, and that is the importance of appearance. Always remember, just as a smiley person is a happy person, a shiny car is a happy car.
Online ski shop
Covid-19 has literally changed how we live our lives, and a perfect example of this is how we do our shopping. Prior to the pandemic a visit to the mall was a convenient method of shopping and socializing, however, with the arrival of Covid-19 everything changed.

Seemingly overnight there were shop closures, limitations on crowd numbers, and social distancing. The result was a direct change in how we do our shopping. Online shopping became the norm, and visits to the mall a thing of the past.

Statistics

The growth in online shopping is clearly shown by the statistics, as is the influence of Covid-19.

In 2020, it is estimated that American consumers spent a total of $861.12 billion online. This represents a 44% increase over 2019. The increase from 2019 to 2020 represents the fastest e-commerce growth in the last 20 years and it is nearly triple the growth of the 15.1% growth recorded in 2019.

It is estimated that in 2020, an additional $174.87 billion of online sales were related to Covid-19.

In 2018, online retail sales amounted to 319.772 million U.S. Dollars, which was 14.3% of the overall retail sales for that year.

In 2019, online retail sales amounted to 360.099 million U.S. Dollars, which was 15.8% of the overall retail sales for that year.

In 2020, online retail sales amounted to 431.648 million U.S. Dollars (2), which was 21.3% of the overall retail sales for that year.

Reasons people shop online:

Convenience.

Perhaps the most obvious reason people use online shopping is because of the convenience it offers. For example, shopping online means customers don't have to travel to the store and don't have to worry about parking, long lines or queues, or wandering around the store looking for a specific product.

Online shopping will often equal a one-stop shopping experience, which is definitely more convenient for consumers.

Extensive product range.

Online stores are not a physical structure. They exist only on the internet, which means they are not subject to physical limitations such as shelving or storage capacity. This allows them to offer a much larger range of products for the consumer to choose from. The ability to offer a larger and more diverse product range is a major advantage of online stores and definitely one of the main reasons an ever increasing number of consumers have been shopping online.

Competitive pricing structure.

When it comes to purchasing a product, price has always been a determining factor. Online stores can offer competitive pricing simply because they have a lower overhead than an actual physical store. In fact, it is generally believed that on average, products are nearly always less expensive online.

Easily accessible product and store reviews.

According to e-commerce analysts, approximately 62% of consumers like to read online product reviews prior to purchasing.  E-commerce websites have the advantage of being able to offer product reviews from past consumers, and since the e-commerce site and review writer have no affiliation with a particular brand, the review is considered to be more honest and truthful.

Comparisons.

Another big advantage of internet shopping is that it gives customers a chance to easily compare prices of different brands all on one site. This is particularly important, as price nearly always plays an influential role for shoppers in the decision-making process.

Online sporting goods shopping

In 2020, the sporting goods industry in the U.S. did 40 billion dollars in sales, with online sporting goods sales estimated at approximately 22 billion dollars. Sporting goods comprised an estimated 11,974 businesses and provided employment for 25,879 people.

One way of viewing sporting goods sales is to break down the industry into seasonal sports. For example, as a summer sport
in America, baseball reigns supreme. It is estimated that in 2019, the sale of baseball and softball bats combined amounted to 228 million U.S. dollars, and the sale of gloves and mitts amounted to 154.1 million U.S. dollars.

In the winter sports category, by far the most popular is skiing and snowboarding. It is estimated that in 2018, there were approximately 9.2 million active skiers and snowboarders in the U.S. In 2019, global skiing equipment sales were approximately USD 1.39 billion, with 360.5 million dollars of that total coming from America.

In the skiing and snowboarding industry, there is extensive use of specialized equipment. This specialized equipment includes the giro ski helmet, which is designed to protect skiers and snowboarders from head injuries. Other equipment includes specialized ski pants for kids and adults that feature both flexibility and strength, and ski jackets that insulate wearers from the cold while also providing a fashion statement.

The second most popular winter sport in terms of sporting goods sales is ice hockey. In 2019, sales of ice hockey protective equipment in the US reached 115 million U.S. dollars, and it is estimated that in 2019 there were 561,700 registered ice hockey players in the United States.

The combination of much broader global internet usage and the rapid development of efficient delivery systems, plus increased convenience and a greater product range, has led analysts to believe that online sales will continue to make up a higher percentage of overall retail sales even after the Covid-19 pandemic subsides.

 American sheds
The suburban revolution

Endless summer hours spent splashing, playing and swimming in the backyard pool. Delicious barbecued food enjoyed with the company of good friends, camping out at night and gazing at the stars, toasting marshmallows, drenching each other in water fights, games of tag and scavenger hunts.

These are some of my most cherished childhood memories, as they are for generations of American kids This was life in the suburbs and an essential part of that life, was the suburban backyard.

The suburban revolution.

Beginning in the years shortly after World War 2, the history of American backyards is more recent than many people think. Prior to World War 2 American society was for the mostly divided into two distinct segments, with people either living in the urbanized cities or the less populated countryside. After World War 2 this all changed as America underwent the "suburban revolution".

After the war in the late 1940's and early 50's America welcomed back 12.5 million veterans all of whom would need housing and employment. With the large numbers of troops returning, American society had to find a way of absorbing them, and provide housing and employment. In response the Government introduced the GI Bill of Rights, which among other things guaranteed housing loans, and new mass production techniques made it possible to build homes faster and cheaper than ever before.

The GI Bill and new mass production techniques were accompanied by the introduction of the 40 hour week, and a rapid increase in the number of white collar jobs all combined to create the suburban revolution.

Another factor fueling the suburban revolution was advertising. Advertising promoted certain products which were representative of the suburban lifestyle. and it promoted the lifestyle itself. Over the airways and on the pages of the magazines and newspapers an idealized suburban world was presented to the American people. Images of lush green lawns, patios, barbecues and swimming pools were presented to, and consumed by, the American populace.

The suburban landscape today.

The suburban revolution represented a massive population shift and over the coming decades this shift would continue, and by the 1990's, more Americans lived in the suburbs than in the central cities.

The growth of suburbia continues in present times. Since the year 2000 rural counties have experienced a 1 3% population growth, whereas the urban centers have experienced a 13% growth and suburban and small metro areas have experienced a 16 % growth.

The American backyard.

With the suburban revolution came a new lifestyle and one important element of this new lifestyle, was the suburban backyard. What was once a utilitarian area, used for growing vegetables and gardening, now became a multifunctional area and at the same time, an iconic symbol of American suburban lifestyle.

With the 1950's new prosperity, Americans had more money and more spare time. They could now embark on do it yourself projects and as a result, backyards became family areas, dedicated in part, to recreational activities. Backyards would now play host to swimming pools, barbecues, parties, sports, kid’s games, camping and a host of other recreational activities.

Advertising played a crucial role in establishing the backyard as part of the suburban lifestyle. Through television and print Americans constantly viewed images of happy families swimming in the backyard pool, enjoying a barbecue, playing sports and a host of other family activities, all happening in the backyard.

The American shed.

Back in the day no backyard was complete without a shed. In fact the garden shed became nearly as iconic, as the yard it was built in. Initially the shed was a simple building in the back yard used for storage however with the commencement of the suburban revolution the backyard shed began to take on a whole new role. From a place to store gardening tools, the shed now became a workspace and even a man cave.

The shed represented a place where men could find solace and enjoy some peace and quiet. It was a place where he could surround himself with tools and engage in do-it-yourself building projects.

The simple garden shed has proliferated across America and can now be found in Californian suburbs all the way through to Denver Colorado and the backyard gardens of Maine.

In modern day society the humble garden shed has seen a type of renaissance and has taken on a renewed purpose. With working from home becoming a more common occurrence the shed has once again become an integral part of American lifestyle. Many Americans are now converting their backyard shed into a private office and some have even converted them into homes.

The simple garden shed is an American icon symbolizing the suburban lifestyle and so much more. It is a sign of security, financial well being, a suburban lifestyle and even masculinity.

A smiling kid is a happy kid
Smiles are always in fashion.  No one is quite sure who said this originally, but nonetheless, it still rings as true today as when it was first spoken. Despite what the unsmiling catwalk models portray, a smile will always be fashionable because it is
equated with beauty and attractiveness.

A smile is such a simple action, it is composed of no words and yet it says so much. It is composed of no sound and yet it
speaks volumes. A smile can convey a range of emotions, including, peacefulness, contentment, friendliness and happiness. Perhaps most importantly, a smile can create those same emotions in others.

A smile is equally important for adults and children alike. This article will discuss the physical and emotional benefits of
smiling, with particular emphasis on children. It will also look at the dental industry and discuss the ways in which dentists can help you get that perfect Hollywood smile.

The benefits of smiling

It seems hard to believe, but recent studies have shown that smiling can actually help you live longer. The studies have
established a correlation between happiness, health and longevity (1) These studies show that happy people tend to live
longer. Smiling is an expression of happiness, so it follows that a smiling person is a happy person and therefore likely to live longer.

People find smiling attractive. Smiling represents positivity and happiness both of which are qualities we are naturally
attracted to. Plus, smiling involves exercising facial muscles which can make you look younger.

Smiles seem to be contagious. A smile will nearly always illicit a return smile. Indeed, when we see a smile it is almost an
involuntary action to return it. A smile is a way of sharing happiness and positive thoughts.

Why kids should smile.

The interesting thing about expressions is that they normally reflect reality, and so it is with the expression, snotty nosed kids. The simple reality is, babies and young children seem to constantly have cold symptoms like runny noses. Smiling can
actually help snotty nosed kids, because it releases endorphins, which boost a child's  immune system. The boost to the
immune system also helps children fight off infections and other common ailments.

In today's pressurized environment adults and children are subject to ever increasing amounts of stress. Children will often
get pressure and stress because of academics, extracurricular sports, and social pressures, However, this stress can be
minimized simply by smiling.  Smiling causes our brain to release endorphins and serotonin which are the main chemicals
that boost our moods. Smiling also lowers the production of cortisol the hormone which causes stress, and can help lower the heart rate.

Children who smile more often achieve more.  A smile conveys confidence and positivity, both of which, are characteristics
people associate with winning and achievement. Conversely, poor dental health has been linked to lower academic
performances. .

Smiling can help children make more friends. Studies have clearly shown that smiling conveys friendliness. So it follows - if a child is smiling, he or she is is sending out positive, friendly signals, that are more likely to generate positive, friendly signals
in return.

Dentistry for children

Dentistry for children is actually a highly specialized field. Dentist's who specialize in oral care for children are called
Pedodontists.  A Pedodontists procedures are particularly important because they are designed for both the present and
the future.  A pediatric dentist will manage current problems with the aim of preventing more serious problems from occurring
in the future.

Typically a pediatric dentists field of operations will include infant oral health exams, preventative dental care such as
cleaning and fluoride treatments, habit counseling, treating pediatric periodontal disease and repairing tooth cavities and
treatment of dental injuries.

Pediatric dentists will also be involved in highly specialized areas such as early assessment orthodontics. The early
assessment orthodontics will normally address areas such as  dental problem assessment,  teeth straightening, bite
correction and repair of cavities.

One of the big problems in pediatric dentistry was getting children to visit the dentist. Thanks to technology the visit to a
dentist has changed completely and in fact what pediatric dentists used to have to do by hand they can now do online.
Digital orthodontics  have now revolutionized the field of dentistry, especially for kids.

On line dentistry labs offer a quicker ordering process, that benefits both patients and dentist. A quicker ordering process
means patients are spending less time in the chair, and this in turn means, dentists can take on a bigger case load and
increase earnings.

Digital technology also allows for quicker, more accurate production of orthodontic products. For example, products such as
crowns and dentures can be ordered and manufactured online as can more complicated items such as  multi - unit bridges and clear aligners.

Thanks to technology and general advancements in the field of dentistry, it is now possible to maintain good oral hygiene, fix dental problems quickly and easily, and even get that Hollywood smile you've always wanted.
