The Bembo Book Pro MT Typeface

In1496, the famous Italian printer Aldus Manutius used a new roman typeface to print the book de Aetna written by the popular writer Pietro Bembo. The type was designed by a punchcutter Fransisco Griffo, who was one of the first to develop the roman style and moved away from the usual calligraphy style used at the time. Then in 1929, Monotype studio in collaboration with designer Stanley Morrison, used the roman design by Griffo as the model for the creation of Bembo.
The Bembo book pro MT family is available for purchase at fonts.com. The lighter weights of Bembo are used for printing books today while the heavier weights are used more in advertising.  This poster was a really fun project.  I used Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, and photoshop for this poster.  I learned so much about grids, negative space, and the Bembo Book typeface.
