Urban type è un progetto di Information design che prevede la creazione di una segnaletica ambientale per il mercato di Porta Nolana. Porta Nolana è una antica zona di Napoli ricca di storia e tradizione, nonostante lo stato di degrado e incuria, nel luogo si respira ancora una affascinante aria multietnica. Camminando per Porta Nolana siamo attirati dai colori, dai segni, dagli oggetti. Siamo trasportati da percorsi olfattivi. Ho analizzato il tipo di segnaletica presente nel luogo. Per segnaletica non intendo unicamente quella istituzionale, ma anche quella per stranieri. Quella più importante, che mi ha ispirato per il mio progetto, è la segnaletica autoprodotta, creata dai commercianti, realizzata su qualsiasi tipo di superficie e con qualsiasi mezzo. Così nasce Urbantype, dall'idea di fare restare intatta questa peculiarità, creando così una segnaletica autoprodotta che si ispira a quella esistente.
Ho creato diverse tipologie di pittogrammi, forme geometriche che provengono dal gioco di tradizione cinese che si chiama Tangram. Il rompicapo, è formato da 7 forme geometriche, che unite formano figure diverse. Questa è una scelta non solo formale, ma anche concettuale. L'idea è che pezzi del gioco rappresentano tradizioni legate a culture diverse che unendosi creano qualcosa di completo e diverso allo stesso tempo. Il logotipo è stato creato dal frutto di esperimenti tramite il Tangram. Il metodo scelto è lo stencil, un metodo facile e veloce. L'uso di materiali e vernici ad acqua e colori atossici hanno il minimo impatto ambientale. Ho creato delle matrici per il font e per i pittogrammi di formato A4 e A3, per fare in modo che i messaggi siano scritti in diverse dimensioni.

Urban type is an Information design project that involves the creation of an environmental signage for the market Porta Nolana located in the city of Naples. Porta Nolana is an area full of history and tradition, but at the moment it is in a state of decay and neglect, however, the place exudes a charming multiethnic. You can walk in this place and you are attracted by the colors of the signs and the objects, but also you follow olfactory pathways of ethnic foods and overlap with Neapolitans food, and you can hear the call of the market. The project was focused on the signs. I analyzed what kind of signage is present at the place. Institutional but also for foreigners. The most important think that inspired me for my project is the self-produced signage created by traders signage. They created their signage on any surface and in any size.
The idea to make Urbantype is to remains intact this peculiarity, creating a signage handmade, making use of appropriate means and with a formal unity for all. The method chosen is the stencil, a quick and easy way around this is expected with the use of materals water-based paints and non-toxic colors with minimal ambiental impact. I created the matrix for the font and size of the pictograms for steps A4 and A3 siamno that messages written in different sizes. By creating different types of pictograms, but these geometric forms are from traditional chinese game Tangram, 7 geometric shapes completed in different ways that make many different figures, this is a choice is not only for the forma but also the conceptual idea of many different pieces traditions of different cultures that joining can create a more homogeneous and united.
The logotype was created by the result of experiments using the tangram.
