Context:

In the last years, we have face a dramatic change in our daily lives.

On of the most affected sectors was the education industry. The experience of going to school changed dramatically.

Now we were fully digital, and that changed the rules of the game.

People started to facing problems of spacing, connectivity, technology, usability, learnability, and last but not least, they were facing communication problems.

This challenged us all to moving faster to think in new ways of interact between each other, taking in consideration all the possible obstacles that could lead into having a dramatic impact in how the next generations learn.

This is my approach to help improve online education.
This is Globly.

Will you like to skip some steps?

First Steps:
The Business Discovery
Before rushing into solution, we need to answer some questions first.

About the competition:

- What other platforms are they already exist in the market?

- What are they doing right? What are they doing wrong?

- What can we learn from other digital platforms, outside the education niche?
*Competitive Analysis and FODA was made for each platform mentioned in this slide.
About the business:

- How can the solution being part of a sustainable and maintainable project?

- What constrains and limitations do we have to consider in order to build something that brings benefit for the business and the users?

- How could we bring the most benefit for all the parts involved?
*This slide illustrates questions made to the stakeholders to understand their needs and match them with the user needs.
First Steps:
Research Discovery.
Just ask the user.
Qualitative
Interviews 1:1:

Profile:
Teachers that are currently giving online classes.

What information do we need?

- What are their pain points when using their current digital platform?
- What's their story around the education?
- What needs to be improved?

- Interview Script
- Camera and Microphone (Camera was optional, I asked for permission first, no mandatory)

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Quantitative
Surveys:

Profile:
Students that are currently taking online classes.

What information do we need?

- How many are struggling with technical difficulties like connectivity or lack of equipment?
- How many share their space with other members of their family?
- How many are confortable with continue with the digital classes modality?

Tools used:

- Google Forms

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Research for Discovery.
Findings.
This is the result of a mix of the collected information.
Empathize Phase:
User Persona.
Who is it? What are their needs?

How:
For this step of the process, I gathered all the information from the interviews, and with the main pain points, I built a single user persona that will guide the path into the solution.

What information do get from this persona?

- What are their behaviors in his daily activities as a teacher?
- What are their main needs and goals?
- What are their main pain points?
- What are their needs?

Empathize Phase:
Customer Journey Map.
Mapping the experience through a common day in her job.
Empathize Phase:
User Statement.
In one sentence, what this persona NEEDS?

All great from here?

Seems like a lot! I know, but understanding the business and the needs of the user is one of the most important things to define before even to start creating a solution.

Let's move to next phase of the project.
The Ideation Phase.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Ideation Phase:
The 4 Steps Sketch.
Let's put some ideas on the table!

We started framing the possible solution by asking us this next question:

How might we help Martha manage her activities and connect effectively with students so that they can receive a meaningful education that helps them improve their lifestyle?

Ideation:
Following the 4 Steps Sketch Process, we came with some great ideas!

Voting:
After the brainstorming, we had to vote for the best ideas that came up in the session.

Agreement:
We prioritize those ideas and we start to seek for some patterns, which one of those could help us to solve the bigger issues, focusing on the HWM statement?
*Here we can see the result of the ideation phase, we followed the 4 Sketch process and we then put our best and some crazy ideas in this slide.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Solution Phase:
The Information Architecture
Defining the structure.

After keeping all the great ideas that could lead us to solve the principal needs of the users, I started to work on the solution.

Information Architecture:

After mapping the experience and with a solid base about the experience of the user and the expectations, I started to define the possibilities of the platform and star to creating roads and flows that could lead the user from the starting point to the meet of their needs.

Solution Phase:
User Story.
Knowing a little more about the user expectations.

The GWT Methodology:

The Given, When, Then Methodology is used to describe the expected outcome of the user when interacting with a certain flow.

As we can see in the next slide, this User Flow is focused on our main persona, who will have a teacher role inside our platform.

In the slide it's also describe the acceptance criteria of the user when interacting with certaing actions.

Solution Phase:
User Flow.
Creating a Flow that will lead the user to finish the task defined in the User Story.
