For this years ISTD Paper Messengers brief, I decided to base my theme on the 100th year anniversary of the First World War coming up in 2014. It wasn’t that I wanted to celebrate the Great War but bring awareness and commend the brave lives lost to this dark time. This is why I named the project ‘The Unsung Heroes’. Another theme that I wanted to come across in my work were the possessions that loved one have treasured over the years in memory of their family and friends. This added a much more personal touch to my work and would be more successful in engaging the reader.
