INSPIRATION
this painting is the second installment of the Welcome to Inglewood series. It pays homage to the iconic landmark, The Fabulous Forum, which was once home to the Los Angeles Lakers from 1967 to 1999 and now serves as a versatile arena for various events.
This artwork features the notorious Lobo, a character from DC Comics, wreaking havoc on a beloved Inglewood monument. Lobo, an intergalactic demonic bounty hunter biker, has descended upon the Forum, where he is causing chaos and destruction. The inspiration for this painting came from the idea of Lobo attending a show at this iconic venue.
CLOSE-UPS
The forum displays warm dark colors such as plum red, burgundy, or a boysenberry magenta. These colors were used to paint both the forum and the background sky.
These paintings were created during the covid pandemic so all civilians' are wearing mask since they were required everywhere.
The most complicated part about this painting was the bike. The bike has many components to it but painting section by section made it easier to complete it.
The contrast between the dark shades from the bike and the shine from the metal work perfectly together to create depth and a three dimensional perception.
The dark shades in the bike create a well balanced lighting to outline the bike creating separation from the floor and the bikes shadow.
The forum has a fluorescent pink aura around it, presenting the illusion of a glow through the whole painting.
The multiple use of different shades and tints of red, pink and purple help create the smooth gradients in the pillars.
THE PROCESS
To create this painting, a rigorous process was undertaken which involved multiple stages and transformations. As can be observed from the images below, the artwork underwent several iterations before reaching its final form. The end result conveys a villainous atmosphere, in line with the overarching theme of the Welcome to Inglewood series.
