My Neighbourhood + Lockdown

My Neighbourhood + Lockdown

For me, lockdown was and is kind of lonely, yes, I had my family, but I sort of missed being around people. I wanted to capture that feeling through my photos, like I'm the last person on Earth. These are just some of the places that I found solace in during my weekly weeks around town (and by that I mean the 1 hour radius around my house).
This is a little area on my street that I always visit to buy food - since lockdown everything's been closed aside from the little dairy. I found it odd seeing the car park so empty and the street so quiet because there's usually people out and about. Taking a picture that captures almost large empty spaces, creates this lonely atmosphere that I felt a lot during lockdown.
This tunnel is one of my favourite places to walk under. I love the blue and yellow lights that bounce off the walls and how they almost dance.
I thought this photo represented how lockdown kind of changes our perception of time. The blur of the car represents time and the stillness of the rest of the picture represents how I feel - while time continues to pass I feel stagnant and stuck at times.
After some exploring I found this street full of industrial and commercial buildings and these were just spots that interested me. The yellow building in particular was so peculiar in contrast to the grey and dreary buildings around it and I thought it was incredibly interesting on its own.

Windows interest me too. Especially buildings that are just wrapped in them. The way things reflect off of them interest me because it makes the scene seem "bigger" somehow.
Something that I have enjoyed during lockdown is that I have time for little things, like the sunset - my favourite time of day. It's not to say that I never had time to watch it before but I think lockdown makes you appreciate the small things that you see everyday a lot more.
I wanted to end with the same shops that I showed earlier. Once again reiterating my perception of time during lockdown. That my days start and end in the same places. While I do see different things everyday as no day is the exact same, lockdown has made my days almost an identical cycle.
Here's my Tumblr Blog that shows all the pictures I took during lockdown,
as well as my process.
