Meet Los Saicos (ENG)
Los Saicos is a garage rock band formed in 1964 in Lima, Peru. Their use of fast tempos, screamed vocals and aggressive riffing has led some publication to retrospectively credit them as pioneering punk rock. In a short amount of time during the 1960s, they became one of the most successful groups in their own country, fashioning a unique surf-influenced garage sound, that would anticipate certain aspects of the later punk rock movement of the 70s. In addition to composing their own songs, written by band members Erwin Flores and Rolando Carpio, they are sometimes mentioned as the first South American band to record exclusively their own material. They released six singles between 1965 and 1966, of which the best known are "Demolición", "Fugitivo de Alcatraz" and "El Entierro de los Gatos", which have become anthems in Peruvian rock and, over time, have led to the recognition of the band worldwide.
The current set of posters were done on behalf of the band's upcoming 60th anniversary and inspired by the painting of the first mural about Los Saicos in Lima (also done by Valcarcel in late 2021 on the mid-class district of Lince: hometown of Los Saicos, where they started playing back in the 60's).

Lo dice el recientemente publicado Diccionario de punk y hardcore (España y Latinoamérica): La variante punk del rock no se inició en los años 1970 en Londres ni en Nueva York, sino en Perú, específicamente en el distrito limeño de Lince.
Los Saicos o también simplemente Saicos fueron una banda de rock formada en 1964 en el distrito de Lince, Lima, Perú. Es considerada por algunas fuentes como la precursora mundial del punk rock —aceptado popularmente como un género musical de los años 1970, oriundo de Inglaterra y Estados Unidos—. A pesar de su corta existencia, fue uno de los grupos más exitosos de su época, el primero de Sudamérica en grabar solo sus propias canciones y uno de los primeros en escribirlas en español. Tenía un estilo tan visceral como agresivo, pero a la vez divertido, típico del punk. De sus sencillos, los más conocidos son «Demolición», «Fugitivo de Alcatraz», «El entierro de los gatos», «Ana» e «Intensamente», los cuales se han convertido en himnos del rock peruano y, con el tiempo, han propiciado el reconocimiento de la banda internacionalmente.
La serie de carteles fue creado en homenaje y tributo a la banda a escasos años de cumplirse 60 años de su creación, tanto también inspirado por la creación del primer mural de Los Saicos en el barrio y distrito de Lince (también pintado por Valcarcel en diciembre de 2021).
