Santiago de León de Caracas
This was the first image I did about the venezuelan clashes between the young squires and security forces ( Spring of 2017).  I wanted to use the simbol of Caracas to represent the bravery of young rebells of this city.
Meaning:
The official name of the city founded in 1567 was Santiago de León de Caracas
(Saint James of León of Caracas).
The lion is a common charge in heraldry.  It traditionally symbolises courage, nobility, royalty, strength, stateliness and valour, because historically it has been regarded as the "king of beasts".   Lion refers also to a Judeo-Christian symbolism.  The scallop is the symbol of St. James and the cross is the cross of the (Spanish) Order of Santiago.
This image was displayed in collective exibitions in Caracas (El Arte de la Protesta)
Produced by:
Sin Mordaza ( venezuelan human rights NGO )
This is a tribute to The Little Prince...and also a tribute to young lives taken by security Forces, mercenaries & paramilitaries during clashes.
