Concept: This drawing reflected my feelings and emotions towards a song called Evening Ceremony by Active Child. To me the song reflects a breaking down of an relationship in a form of miscommunication. This can be felt through the lyrics from the sombre tones and also by the questions that features in the first verse of the song. 

 

 

I took the feelings that were conveyed through the lyrics and used them as inspiration for my final piece. As i said earlier I wanted to focus on the miscommunication of a relationship therefore I played with the concept of a female and male silhouette facing each other, the male represents the sky and universe and the female embodies the land elements. In-between the characters they are separated by the title " Evening Ceremony" which sits inside a circle that symbolises the moon. I wanted to show that they are always at a far distance from each other, they might exist within each others presence like how day and night will always exist no matter what, however they will never happen at the same time, only separately. This expresses the feelings of being unreachable to a significant other.

 

Technique: I decided to use silk-screen printing to produce my final image. I feel that this method of printing gives a more organic and tactile aesthetic that will suit the overall style of my artwork. I really enjoyed the process of screen printing, I like how freely I can experiment with different colour inks and printing techniques and I can get instant results. Overall I find this process more rewarding and enjoyable compared to using a conventional ink-jet printer. It also helps to add an element skill and depth to my work.
