Have you heard of the Circular Economy? 

It “Employs reuse, sharing, repair, refurbishment, remanufacturing and recycling to create a closed-loop system, minimising the use of resource inputs and the creation of waste, pollution and carbon emissions.” (Geissdoerfer et al) The key principle is keeping assets- materials, products, infrastructure and equipment- in use for much longer, increasing their productivity. Waste and energy produced by processes should also be used for other processes and industries. 

Linear, perishable production lines made it easier to produce the same object faster while increasingly polluting the planet, so it’s time to step back and use a new paradigm. One where we close the loop and repurpose: many of the tools to do so are already there. I designed this animation yesterday when I really wanted to capture the philosophy using kinetic type.
