Brief
Design an identity for First Word, a creative writing initiative from lutruwita/Tasmania, primarily featuring a podcast where established writers talk about the craft and their careers to assist listeners with the process of developing a creative writing practice. The identity will be used in a social campaign to announce and publicise the episodes, and a website where further resources can be found and new writers can submit their work for online publication. New to writing audiences tend to be young, so a solution that has strong visibility and appeal on social media to catch their attention was needed, along with a solution to include head shots with variable quality and differing styles from writers dispersed across Australia.  

Solution 
The identity plays with the symbolic references of written word in both digital and print forms, oscillating between the flashing cursor and the open book and the moment between writer's block and inspiration. A bold and distinct palette, and image treatment provides striking visibility in the scrolling social media feed, unifying the disparate styles and uninspiring quality of the writers headshots.
