Golestan walkway
The Golestan walkway has been situated in the heart of an overcrowded urban vicinity in western parts of Tehran. In the past Golestan street contained many retail stores and vendors on both sides who sat on the pavement. On the one hand they gave great livelihood to the street and on the other hand they hindered the traffic. Additionally, there were no welfare facilities for the vendors and their customers and they did not have a place to sit and rest. The walkway in addition to the Mall and the Golestan shopping mall were designed in order to rescue the situation.

The following considerations were important in construction of the walkway:
The first issue was vendors who sat on both sides without any regulations and order. They created a wide range of problems for the shop owners and the pedestrians. The first issue which needed attention was to organize their economic activity and providing some space for them to buy and sell.
The second issue was lack of facilities for the customers and the shopkeepers. There was no WC, restrooms, or any place for them to sit on. In addition to these shortcomings, there was no trees in that street and the sun was always present and this made the presence of the people in the street an unpleasant experience.  In order to solve these issues, some booths were installed so that the vendors could sell their goods, various sitting places were provided and the green space in that street was expanded. Additionally, two WCs, one for men and one for women were created in the underground. Given that many families attended that place a small fenced play ground was also made which in addition to increasing the satisfaction of the customers made the environment more colorful.
There are three entrances to the walkway on the southern, western and eastern sides of it. These three entrances have barriers however; the entire walkway has been designed in a manner that cars can pass by.
