Lên-đàng is a personal project of Jiji and Min Min. It is the name of a well-known Vietnamese song by Luu Huu Phuoc, written in 1944 to encourage young Vietnamese soldiers in the Vietmam War. Lên-đàng means "lên đường", which means "to hit the road", "to take off". To us, it is also a beautiful word for "to strive", "to thrive", "to give it your best", "to be brave", "to take the lead". More than a verb, Lên-đàng is a state of mind.
To elaborate this lên-đàng state of mind, we create a series of illustrations to portrait how Vietnamese heroes lên đàng throughout different times of history:
— Soldiers in the Vietnam War 1900s
— Trưng Trắc - Trưng Nhị fighting Hán invaders in 40-43
— Doctors and the army fighting Covid-19 in 2021
— and a fictional future when 2 Vietnamese female astronauts (Jiji and Min Min) landing the first steps on Mars

This project is a manifesto for Vietnamese youths out there who still struggle to go after their dreams, stand up for their truth and belief. Hey, lên-đàng thôi!
