When Patricia Urquiola turned Arts & Crafts

Arts and crafts movement lies in simple forms, truth to materials, and consideration of nature. These main characteristics of the movement can somewhat be seen with Patricia Urquiola's works - known to be a resourceful designer. Her artistry and industrial research that are put into practice are placing a high value on the craftsmanship and natural beauty of materials. Although many of her art pieces are made of wood and inspired by natural materials, there are two furniture designs that cater the attributes of this movement. As shown in the poster, the table is called “Sefefo” and the chair is “Palaver”. The former piece denotes the shape of the wood carving that brings to mind the helicoidal shape, while the chair is executed by the wooden structure and intertwining leather strips that enhances the whole, giving it a unique language. The raw materials and her craftsmanship methods largely contribute to the rendering of these furniture pieces.
