Fantasy Creature Design

Something a bit different! Well i'm all about getting my hands dirty and always looking out for new ways of going about it. So when the opportunity came to sign up to an evening course in creature design, I jumped at the chance. The process involved sculpting a life size creature face from clay, casting it in plaster and recreating the original in latex, before painting. Still to paint but this is what i've got so far!

It's been a really fascinating expereince, learning new methods of modelling to create some really intricate details and realistic affects.
And here's the final painted outcome! Painted with combination of oil paints, FW inks and a little bit of epoxy to give the eyes a and mouth a bit of shine. I'm fairly happy with the outcome, although the skin ended up a bit too layered, dark and shiney which wasn't what I was really going for. But hey, not bad for a first shot! Now to find somewhere to hide it ready for some unsuspecting victims...
