Safari Club International (SCI) is a membership organization that promotes wildlife conservation and protects the freedom to hunt. SCI advocates for hunters' rights; promotes ethical, safe, and legal hunting; and educates the public on hunting.
There are nearly 50,000 SCI members across 200 chapters in the United States and 106 other countries. SCI members stay involved in federal plans that affect conservation and hunting on public lands and national and state regulatory and legislative issues. Members receive exclusive benefits and join like-minded hunters in networking events and chapter activities.
Three options are available for new memberships: one year, three years, and life. One-year members may enroll in an exclusive SCI member rewards program and receive access to a hunter information service and hotline. Additionally, they receive six bimonthly issues of Safari magazine, SCI’s award-winning publication, and 12 monthly issues of the Safari Times newspaper. Other benefits of the one-year membership include access to the annual World Hunting Awards publication and the SCI Hunter’s Travel Assistance Hotline, powered by Global Rescue.
One-year members also receive one free entry in the SCI record book. Established in 1977, the record book has documented SCI members’ hunting heritage ever since. It uses a unique and all-inclusive scoring system SCI has developed, which currently stands as the gold standard for encyclopedias of big-game animals. Entries are exclusive to members, who can purchase additional ones when needed, and Master Measurers verify each entry to ensure accuracy.
SCI members can visit the SCI online record book of big game animals to help with their personal hunting goals, network with other members, and achieve SCI World Hunting Awards. As regards the latter, the record book committee annually recognizes those hunters who have reached high levels of big game hunting throughout the year.
Three-year members receive all of the benefits of one-year membership, plus a discount in membership price and two additional free record book entries.
Life membership is the most advanced option. In addition to all of the benefits of one-year and three-year membership, life members receive two four-day passes to SCI’s annual Hunters’ Convention and an invitation to the life member event at the convention. In 2022, the convention will take place at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Life members also receive a lapel pin, an SCI life membership certificate, and an official SCI membership card, along with access to 10 free record book entries.
