The client of this building is a Chinese businessman living in Ho Chi Minh. He wanted to create his residence with a sacred space on the top of the building. This posed a challenge to our design team, since we had to juxtapose the intricate Chinese pagoda architecture to the minimalistic contemporary Chinese residential one. Finally we had come to a solution to create a cohesive connection between the two components: Paring down the level of detail in the ritual space, and adding a touch of simplified dougong-inspired decoration into the residential part. This resulted in a grandeur & unique residence, a gift to the client to reminisce his origin.
