A Form of Silence- Self Motivation

Project realized during Sustainability and Service Design Erasmus IP 2013 in Syros.

The circle of life ends up as human waste. I decided to focus on things and materials we throw away and dispose of, and specifically cigarette ash and copper cents coins we sometimes find thrown away on the street.

Among other things, cigarette ash diluted in water is really good for the soil of plants, because nicotine is a very good pesticide.
Copper is also a well-known biocide and algicide, and works well against some viruses and fungi, while the increased level of copper in the water retards or prevents the growth of algae.
So i decided to create this metaphorical object.
It consists of an ashtray, a plant and some soil and a glass of water.

Cigarette ashes are thrown in the water, along with the copper coins the user does not need. After the 1 cents pennies inside have reached the volume of 2 euros, every time the water overflows by the throwing of coins the plant is a little more watered.

So, in a way, you pay yourself, you motivate yourself to water a plant.
