Baybayin Poster Collection (HI-GA)

Baybayin Abstract 

This poster set was inspired from the word HIGA which means "to lay down" in tagalog and was then written in "Baybayin". Since it is hard to find decent artwork to furnish my wall during the pandemic, I sought to create a poster that I would actually be excited to look at everyday. So this poster was aimed to give off old-timey and groovy vibes yet simple enough to be used as a nice piece for visual relaxation slash décor on my wall.



This project is part of my personal journey through discovering my own cultural background as a Filipino. I recently found out about "baybayin" which was one of the flourishing writing systems used in tandem with the "tagalog" language in the Philippines pre Spanish colonization. My goal is to use my creative powers to do my part in helping resurface this the writing system to enrich the cultural history of the Philippines especially for Filipinos living abroad.
