Inspiration for this project was the work of the artist Anish Kapoor, "Cloud Gate" in the Millennium Park in Chicago. Anish Kapoor is a renowned sculptor of the 21st century, who deals with issues of sculpture and its surroundings, particularly using highly reflective materials, such as polished stainless steel. Just like "Cloud Gate", "Singularity" with its spherical shape interacts in contrast with the sharp edges of the Parliament, but also the nearby shopping mall, Sarajevo City Center. Spherical shapes in art and science suggest unity, purity and simplicity. With the symbolical name "Singularity", this intervention underlines its political, but also personal connotation, directed at every person passing by, as well as to the citizens of Sarajevo. The location itself contributes to this, as the headquarters of the joint functioning of the 3 nations in Bosnia. Another element has a very important role in delivering the message, which is the material. "Singularity" was designed as a sphere done in a semi-transparent and semi-reflective material. This allows the viewer who stands in front of it to see a partial reflection of themselves and the background, as well as partially the side opposite of him, considering the semi-transparency. It results in the viewer being able to look both "in front and behind" themselves.
