Measure The Intellectual of Modern Society

Traditional Culture as an Intellectual Measure of Modern Society [?]

Indonesia is a large country with the 4th most populous population in the world. 40% of the population comes from the Javanese tribe as one of the oldest ethnic groups in Indonesia with its rich culture; art, custom, architecture, tradition, to philosophy. However, people's awareness and pride in their own culture continues to decrease.

Traditional culture is part of a very diverse culture in Indonesia. In local communities, traditional culture is often something that is considered normal because it has become an integral part of their daily activities. It is different for urban communities who have the privilege of accessing education and generally have awareness and pride in traditional culture.

One of the traditional cultures that we often encounter in wedding ceremonies is, “What kind of custom is this? Java? What is Java, Yogyakarta, Surakarta? The customs are different, the clothes are different, the batik is different, the makeup is different…” is an example of a normal conversation.

In the midst of accelerating information and technological sophistication, a group of people are already competing to start life with a rocket on Mars, consuming it is not much different from consuming traditional culture which is a luxury and pride item.
