I Jumped to Pluto, I’ll Be Back Tomorrow

This project gave me the opportunity to create duotone illustrations with direct Pantone colours for a children's book, which is a big challenge, but also my long-cherished dream. The illustrations play with the big contrast of the two colours, resembling the dramatic lighting visible on objects in outer space. The bold colours and dynamic compositions are balanced with a loose, comic-like, playful style. The main audience is around eight years old kids, who like adventure and are interested in space travel, but the story also brings joy to adults, who grew up on Back to the Future, or such classic adventure sci-fi movies. The characters themselves are young teens, who explore the universe with their quirky uncle on a self-built spaceship.
